And I am Living Even Better than Yesterday

Harry Lai

‘I drink a cup of water to calm my body and soul.’
Drinking a cup of hot water was the warmest moment in winter in Nepal. We did yoga under Pink’s instruction to relax our soul and prepare for the day.

‘I go hiking or trekking to taste the beauty of nature.’
Then we walked carefully along the mountainside toward the school. Despite the uneven road, the Nepalese children surpassed us with ease. The sound of water flowing came into my left ear, drawing my attention to the beauty of the streams at the mountain foot, Which reminded me of the awe of the Big Dipper I had seen the day before.

‘The alcohol and meat I have once consumed, how filthy they are.’
Abstaining from meat for 8 days was both a worry and a challenge I set for myself. Unexpectedly, the first ‘modern meal’ I had after leaving the mountain made me miss the simple delicacies I had had on the mountain.

‘Now I have gone.’
I left the tiny and strange 6-inch world and disregarded any trouble. Living in the moment, I picked up some mud under my feet with my fingertips. The aroma of the mud evidenced my being. I used my third eye to feel every moment of my life.

‘Now I am willing to cultivate rice by myself,’
Only when I had to plough by myself did I learn that every grain is made with a lot of effort. My body was tired after ploughing, but the laughter in the process brought power to my hands.

‘To correct my habits for my future.’
The journey to Nepal offered me a new perspective on the world. It made me reflect on my own behavior, and to listen to others and myself with my heart.
