Shree Jateshwor Secondary School, Nepal |
 |
After one year, our first school has been rebuilt! The most touching thing is that over 90% of our donations came from Hong Kong and of the 33 volunteers who helped on our project, over 70% were from Hong Kong.
In mid-February 2017, Pink (founder of Light On) visited Shree Jateshwor Secondary School in Tulibesi, Lamjung, the first school that Light On helped rebuild.
She saw that the last step of our rebuilding work had been completed: installation of the doors and window shutters. She also heard the musical voices of local kids drifting from the new classrooms, so she quietly opened the new window shutters. She peeped into the classroom and felt so touched to watch the kids already having lessons inside this strong and newly-built building!
It was surreal to think back over the past 20 months.
On 25th April 2015 the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal; after experiencing the earthquake in Kathmandu she’d stayed on to do relief work. That had led to the founding of Light On Charity, and now the Light On team and volunteers from around the world had rebuilt a Nepalese school!
The rebuilding of the school began in February 2016, when volunteers from around the world joined the 'Light On Your Path Journey' Program and participated in the rebuilding process: |
