Simple Happiness
Kin Chow, Year 2
Time flies and the eight day Nepal trip has come to an end, but the smiley faces of the
people are still imprinted on my mind. The hospitality of the Nepalese people, the innocence of
the mountain area kids, the extraordinary beauty of the natural environment, and the time we spent
together, have become unforgettable moment. I did not contribute much in the trip, but I did learn
much and broaden my horizons in the trip.
The Nepalese people live without skyscrapers, luxuries, nor grand houses, but they never
complain or lose hope. Instead, they enjoy their life. They do not always have enough food, but
they always keep calm despite their situation. I learned the importance of good attitude in the trip.
Every coin has two sides and whether a moment is good or bad depends on your attitude and
behavior. If you can adjust your attitude in adversity, you can always be content and happy instead
of complaining about life. Also, there is a big contrast between the modest life in mountain area
and the prosperity in Hong Kong. To be frank, the living standard in Hong Kong may not be the
best, but at least better than the mountain area in Nepal. But we sometimes forget that we are the
lucky ones because we have never had the lack of resources and we only desire for an even higher
living standard. The events in these few days have completely changed my naïve thoughts. The
things I have that I think are basic are in fact unreachable for other people. In this trip, I learned to
be thankful to people and things around me, and realized that happiness can be simple but yet
meaningful. Last but not least, I would like to thank my friends who have accompanied me for 8
days. These 8 days are amazing, meaningful, and unforgettable, but only with the presence of you
all. |
