Realizing how precious and terrific to enjoy every day as you can
Queenie Ng, Year 2
This is my first time having a service trip overseas. Nepal is one of the countries famous for its
fantastic scenery and hiking trails for trekkers or backpackers. To reach our destination, it takes 6-8
hours traveled from Kathmandu to Lamjung while 1 hour for ‘rock climbing’ plus 12kg backpacks to
enter the village.
For sure, shower was not available which means you have to keep yourself ‘clean’ every day, but it
was a precious experience though. Basically what we have been doing is farming, teaching, and
construction work for the local community. My home stay has been thoughtful and caring as this is
also their first time accommodating visitors. Pokhara is an excellent place for travelers to take a rest
with the beautiful view of the snow mountains. However, Kathmandu is so crowded and dusty, but I
like those buildings with an exotic and colorful design.
Also, I want to thanks my teammates for supporting each other all the time and everyone who had
helped us. Most importantly, under the peaceful environment in Nepal, having a self-reflection to
look back on what you have been doing so far in your life and realizing how precious and terrific to
enjoy every day as you can, I guess this is what I cherish the most from this journey.
This journey did light on my heart and spread the light to everyone as many as I can. |
